Have you ever been depressed?
We all had at one time or the other experienced depression but we sooner or later snapped out of it and things went back to normal.
Depression is a state of being sad, a feeling of hopelessness and helplessness. Depression makes you feel bad about yourself and the world. You feel numb, dumb, nothing makes sense to you at the moment, and may feel like giving up. This could happen to any adult, whether living alone, coupled or having other people around. But it stays longer with people that stay alone or have no one around to always talk or spend time with. Depression that linger for long can be extremely dangerous as suicidal thoughts could creep in.
More people are getting depressed by the day........
*The economy going down.
*Things not working out as expected.
*The sad news one read or heard about every day, the evils going on around in the world.
*Problems in relationships or marriage.
*Health related issues.
*One's financial situations etc.
Many factors could get one depressed but the trick is to always snap out of it as soon as possible and not allow it to stay on for long or one may be tempted to do something stupid.
To snap out of your depressed state, always have it at the back of your mind that the phase shall pass ''And this too shall pass away.'' Everything gonna work out just fine if you can keep the faith.
Everything in life has its own season and no season last forever. That things aren't working now doesn't mean they won't later. Every problem in this life has a solution and an expiry date. Try and find the solution to the problem and if it doesn't have a solution then never mind it. No point worrying over it, just let it be!
When you are in a state of sadness, say a little prayer of help. Don't try to fight it alone. Talk to someone who cares, who have been there and have seen life, maybe a therapist or a trusted friend. This is the best time to pull down the wall you built around your heart and share your pains and fears. Be willing to humble yourself and ask for help. No matter how gifted you are, you need to reach out to others for help. Don't let the depression eats down into your heart before seeking help.
Avoid being alone at this period. Try and be around people. Spend time with people who you love and who cares. Stop focusing on the cause and start appreciating life. Appreciate the wonders and beauty of nature. Life is beautiful!
Engage in the activities you love. If you love cooking, enter into the kitchen and cook all you want. Share the food with friends and family or neighbours and see how the love and smiles on their faces in appreciation will bring smiles to your face and calm your heart. There is love in sharing.
Avoid being idle. Occupy your time and mind with challenging and creative work that makes you think and get your mind off the cause until the phase passed.
Go out and make new friends but avoid being around people that frustrate and remind you of your problem. We all have a right to life and nobody should be responsible for our happiness. Never give the devil the chance to steal away your joy. Stay happy, make yourself happy, seek happiness. Infact, do whatever makes you happy and worry not about what other people say.
Another way to snap out of depression is to write down everything bugging you. Pick a paper and pen and start writing down your thoughts, your pains and fears. Write down every damn thing. By the time you are through, you will feel lighter, lifted and relieved.
Most times when we are knocked down by a big problem, it gives an opportunity for other smaller problems to climb all over us and have a filled day. Never think too much about your problems or you may create a problem that wasn't there in the first place. Refuse to stay down. Brace yourself up and keep it going.
Even if you don't have people around you that care, God cares, mother nature cares, everything gonna work out just fine........... And this too shall pass away!

way!''
Writing down everything that bothers someone is useful. I would also take a huge thick red felt tip pen and put a cross on all those problems on the paper, and/or rip it into tiny pieces, indicating that those matters ceased to exist.
