*Monday Nugget* HOW TO MAKE THE BEST USE OF YOUR TIME

It's Monday again, the very first monday in the year 2016!

With every new year comes hope, expectations and confidence to start afresh and do better than we did the previous year. So we set before ourselves a handful of goals to achieve for each week, month and the year as a whole. With this feeling of having so much to do, we are eager to get to work and start making things happened.

We are all heading to our various places of work looking forward to a beautiful day and expecting a busy week. Having so much to get done within a limited period of just 5/6 days such that we are mostly in hurry to get to work and get started. No matter how busy the day may get or how time consuming the tasks before us may be, we can never change the hand of time nor can we take or add to the hours in each day, each day would still run its course on a 24 hours basis.

With the limited time available to us plus a handful of goals to achieve, we have got no choice but to manage and make the best use of it. For us to be able to achieve our set objectives for the day, week and the year as a whole, we must master the acts of getting our time under control. Every minute must count.

 4 STEPS TO MAKING THE BEST USE OF YOUR TIME

* The first step in managing your time effectively is to have a clarity of goals. What exactly  are you aiming at? What do you set out to achieve?

* The second step is to organise these goals by priority and value. You are to develop the skill of getting yourself organized and work on the most valuable tasks every minute of everyday. Spend more time doing more of those tasks that can have the greatest consequences on your life and work. Avoid spending time on unnecessary tasks that add no meaningful value to your life. Be like a sniper rifling in on his highest priority at the moment rather than a machine gunner, shooting off randomly by attempting to do so many things at the same time.

* The third step is to plan in advance what you intend to get done. For instance, what you hope to do for today could have been planned days before. You can do this by making mental calculations but it's more commendable to have them written on a piece of paper to make it easier for you to remember and refer at a later date.

* The last step is to take action on your plans. Start work on these tasks and focus your time and attention on them, with single-minded concentration until it is 100% complete and then you can pick on the next task. There will be a need to be self-disciplined and exercise self control. Discipline yourself to concentrate without diversions or distractions. Whenever you find yourself slowing down or experiencing the urge to procrastinate, motivate yourself....... tell yourself to get back to work, tell yourself to do it now!

 Develop a sense of urgency. Take action, get started and get going. When you use your time wisely, you will be rewarded with a rich, productive and satisfying life.
